Common affiliate programs

Most affiliate programs are based on time limited cookies with a shelf life. You will probably be provided with an affiliate URL (link) that has something at the end of the to identify you. It may look something like:

http://www.website.com/id=affiliateno234

When someone visit http://www.website.com/ via your affiliate link, a cookie will be stored in your computer. All will be well and good if the visitor purchase something on the first visit as then you will be credited with the sale. Even if the visitor does not purchase something on the first visit but return later and purchase something, you will still be credited with the sale as long as the cookie remain in the visitor's computer and/or it is within the validity of the cookie. Most affiliate programs set a fixed period ranging from days to weeks. Whatever it is, after that period, the cookie is then useless to you as sales after that period will not be credited to you. Even worst, many surfers have a habit of clearing cookies at the end of the day or when they meet problems.

Interesting affiliate program

Online Canadian Pharmacy Escrow Service also has an affiliate program which uses cookies too, but in a different way. It only uses the cookie for initial verification and identification. After that, from what I understand, the cookie is no longer in use. All sales of a visitor coming from a website which URL had been verified will henceforth be credited to the affiliate.

Now I do take prescription drugs and I do consult conventional doctors, but where there is a choice, I prefer natural remedies and herbal medicine. Online Canadian Pharmacy Escrow Service have a prescription drugs section as well as herbal medications section.

I will like to know more about exactly how their affiliate program and cookie system works and hope to update you with more information.
